CARING FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE

Proper care ensures that the tree stays fresh and safe throughout the holiday season. Follow these tips to keep your tree looking fresh.

  1. Trim the Trunk: Make a fresh, straight cut across the base of the trunk, about ½” to help the tree take up water efficiently.
  2. Store Properly if Delayed: If you’re not setting up the tree immediately, store it in water in a cool, shaded area like a garage or porch.
  3. Use a Well-Holding Stand: Choose a tree stand that can hold an ample amount of water, and check and refill the water daily.
  4. Maintain Water Level: Keep the water level above the bottom of the trunk to prevent it from sealing with sap, which impedes water absorption. If this should happen make a ½” cut at the base of the trunk to enable water absorption.
  5. Avoid Heat Sources: Place the tree away from heat sources like heating vents and fireplaces to prevent drying out.
  6. Use LED Lights: LED lights are safer as they don’t emit heat, and ensure the electrical components are in good condition.
  7. Avoid Open Flames: Never use candles as decorations on the tree to prevent fire hazards.
  8. Safety Precautions: Always unplug the lights when leaving home or going to bed to reduce the risk of fire.

By following these guidelines, families can enjoy their Christmas tree safely and beautifully throughout the holiday season.
